Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind. [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. [This is] a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
My speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of YHWH: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17
In the spiritual sense, "eating" occurs when one hears and reads. A person ingests messages and concepts into the mind through words, which establish and nourish his pattern of life. Those words, if one permits it, create a faith upon which one bases the way he lives. This faith is almost entirely dependent upon the quality of what is heard and whether a person believes it enough to follow it. These verses reveal only the words of YHWH - His gospel and His truths- will form the faith that leads to salvation because they will form the correct beliefs and therefore the correct way of life. This is the faith OF Christ. The person who has the mind of Christ believes what Christ believes. This is a simple, understandable, true formula.
Zephaniah 3:1-2 describes a person who rejects or disbelieves YHWH's WORD: "Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in YHWH; she drew not near to her God."
This does not mean we cannot have any words other than YHWH's in our mind, but the children of Elohyim must filter everything through YHWH's words to test their validity before they allow themselves to believe them firmly enough to make them part of their belief system or to direct their lives and relationships. We are commanded to 'prove all things'.
To put another way, there is faith and then there is the faith, the faith that brings salvation. This faith arises from understanding and believing YHWH's WORD, our repentance, and the annointing of YHWH's Spirit. What we believe will determine our conduct and attitudes, whether or not we stop to think about those beliefs, because what is contained in the heart will come out If we are not careful we can continue to be conditioned by this world and the desire to save ourselves. We will 'turn again to our own vomit'.
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. Matthew 12:34-35
Only YHWH's words produce spiritual strength. In the history of the Church, "eating" and believing the wrong words set them up for the scattering that occurred. Faith in the world and in worldly things gradually corrupted the spiritual health of YHWH's children, weakening them through spiritual malnourishment and changing their faith.
1 Corinthians 1:10 provides an account of a congregation suffering from this process of ingesting the wrong words: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that ye all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. "
Division troubled the congregation in Corinth because the members held dissimilar views on beliefs that are basic to spiritual unity. Corinthians shows disorder, confusion, argument, and offense as symptoms of spiritual weakness.
