Conspiracy Theories: Cancer Cure Controversy
Darren Taylor -- SooNews.ca
“Everyone should know that most cancer research is largely a fraud and that the major cancer research organizations are derelict in their duties to the people who support them.”
Those words came from Dr. Linus Pauling (1901-1994), an American two-time Nobel prize winner.
At one time, when our parents and grandparents were kids, cancer was somewhat rare. Now, of course, it is almost the modern-day equivalent of the plague that swept through Europe in the 14th century. In 2002, cancer was estimated to be the blame for approximately 30 percent of all deaths in the Western world. However, one does not need to be quoted a long list of statistics to know that almost every one of us has either had cancer (and survived it), currently suffering from cancer, or is related to or knows at least one person who is/was afflicted with this hideous disease.
Some scientists lamely argue that the alarming rise in cancer cases is a natural result of other once-fatal diseases now being curable, that people now live longer and, as a result, develop cancer.
Clearly, cancer is NOT an elderly person’s disease, and is now rearing its ugly head among all age groups.
Other scientists have claimed that nearly all cancer can be blamed on environmental causes, such as smoking, an unhealthy diet which does not concentrate nearly enough on fruit and vegetables, exposure to sunlight, pollution, radiation and, in some cases, medical drugs.
Admittedly, many of us should quit smoking, put our minds (and mouths) to eating right and wear sunblock instead of trying to get that perfect tan. However, Hans Ruesch, a medical historian, has stated that less than 1 percent of the U.S. National Cancer Institute’s budget researches proper nutrition as a cure for cancer.
Billions and billions of dollars have been spent on cancer research over the years. That was already the case when Terry Fox carried out his cross-Canada Marathon of Hope in 1980, some twenty-six years ago, before he too succumbed to cancer. Billions of dollars more have been spent on cancer research since, and while some progress has been made in the survival rate since 1980, the number of deaths has soared.
Could the so-called “Medical/Industrial Complex,” backed by the governments of the Western world, be suppressing efforts to find a cancer cure?
Cancer research makes a lot of people rich.
Prevention of the disease, through focusing on proper nutrition, is the last thing some people in the tobacco, alcohol and chemical companies want. The governments rake in tax dollars on tobacco and alcohol and let the drug companies search for an elusive “cancer pill” while physicians are left with very little to offer in terms of cancer treatment other than surgery, radiation and chemotherapy which only prolong life (and does not save it). No wonder cancer-stricken celebrities in the past, such as the actor Steve McQueen and former Beatle George Harrison, people who could afford to pay for a cure if there is one, abandoned such conventional treatments and visited expensive clinics in Mexico and Tuscany in frantic, unsuccessful efforts to save their lives.
A proper diet, free of food additives, would lose billions of dollars for the governments and drug and chemical companies.
Again, Dr. Pauling’s statement: “Everyone should know that most cancer research is largely a fraud…”
U.S. physician Dr. John Bailer: “My overall assessment is that the national cancer programme must be judged a qualified failure…The five year survival statistics of the American Cancer Society are very misleading. They now count things that are not cancer, and, because we are able to diagnose at an earlier stage of the disease, patients falsely appear to live longer. Our whole cancer research in the past 20 years has been a total failure. More people over 30 are dying from cancer than ever before…More women with mild or benign diseases are being included in statistics and reported as being ‘cured.’ When government officials point to survival figures and say they are winning the war against cancer they are using those survival rates improperly.”
These are damning statements from scientific and medical figures, music to the ears of conspiracy theorists, and fuel for the lingering fires of grief and anger for people who have lost loved ones and friends to cancer.
Is there a concerted effort by “The Establishment” to suppress a cancer cure through using misdirected research and ineffective medical treatments?
Or is cancer simply ‘there’ and do we face up to it?
