When Paul stood atop Mars Hill in Athens he spoke the Word of Truth to the people- he proclaimed their worship was in vain and admonished them to seek the True and Living God. He spoke the Word brought forth from the Holy Spirit which dwelled within him. He called on the people to repent:
"God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, 'For we are also his offspring'.
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised Him from the dead." (Acts 17:24-31)
"but now commandeth all men every where to repent"
This message of repentance is the central theme in Yahweh's dealings with mankind. Repentance is the core of the true gospel that has been preached to all the world through God's Word.
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:47)
It was the message John the Baptist cried in the wilderness: In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, 'Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand'. (Matt 3:1,2)
Yahshua (Jesus) said: "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:32)
"I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." (Luke 15:7,10)
"But go ye and learn what [that] meaneth, 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice': for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance," (Matthew 9:13)
Yahshua rebuked the chief priests and the elders of the people for their unbelief in the face of them witnessing Christ's miracles first hand. Oh the hardness of their harts! Winess it everywhere TODAY! "For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen [it], repented not afterward, that ye might believe him' (Matthew 21:32)
What was the message proclaimed by the apostles and disciples ? And they went out, and preached that men should repent. (Mark 6:12)
Paul adminished the young Pastor Timothy: "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And [that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." (2 Timothy 2:25)
Peter cried out to the multitude on the Day of Pentecost: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38) and: "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19)
These men proclaimed the truth of God's righteousness and His mercy for the forgiveness of sins. Christ died to wash away our past sins with His own blood. The Holy Spirit operates to lead us to repentance, and if we are obedient, to edify us and to help us live a sinless life, 'Christ in us'.
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luke 13:3
Repentance is the central theme of Scripture. Yet look at the prosperity feel good doctrine being spewed out from the pulpits of apostate paganized churchianity. This is the final hour and what the World sees as the 'Church' is being lead by Satan's ministers into the ditch with 'another Jesus', and 'another gospel'.
We are warned of this happening, so be it! Come Lord Jesus!
The Prophets proclaimed that the need for the people to repent or face destruction.
"If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them." (Jeremiah 18:8)
"If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them." (Jeremiah 18:10)
"[Yet] if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, 'We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness'; And [so] return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive....Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:" (1 Kings 8:47-50)
"But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?" saith YHWH GOD: "[and] not that he should return from his ways, and live?"
"But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die......
"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways," saith YHWH GOD. "Repent, and turn [yourselves] from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?"
"For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth," saith YHWH GOD: "wherefore turn [yourselves], and live ye." (Ezekiel 18:22-32)
Without repentance there can be no forgiveness! There is only one sin that God will not forgive, this is the sin we do not repent of! If, after we 'repent' if we again turn back to our sin, and continue therein- it is not forgiven! The Holy Ghoast convicts us of our iniquity, and if we continue there in we blasheme this work. This is the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit, this is the 'sin unto death':
"If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it." (1 John 5:16)
"Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:" (Mark 3:28, 29)
"And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven." (Luke 12:10)
Today all of the World is called to repentance and to the knowing of the time by the Sign to this Last Generation, the Voice of the Last Day Prophet of Yahweh! He who has ears to hear let him hear!
"The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas [is] here." (Matthew 12:41)
"Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee." (Revelation 3:3)
"As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." (Revelation 3:19)
MARANATHA!
